Where the Sun Splits Open (A Diasporic Hymn)

Where the Sun Splits Open: A Diasporic Hymn, unfolded in three movements: The Lineage, Fragments of Self and the Blooming. Working across poetry, audio, photographs, and digital and handmade collage, the installation gathered memory through multiple forms. It traced a life shaped by migration, absence, and devotion asking, “how do we remember ourselves when history scatters the record?”

Where Words Meet Pixels: The Intersection of Poetry and Digital Art

View my digital art portfolio here
As a poet and all around creative, I've always had a deep love for visual art. For years, I've found inspiration in the works of artists who evoked my emotions and helped me tell stories through my Ekphrastic poetry.  Now I'm narrating my stories through the language of images. For me, digital art is not just a visual medium, but an extension of my poetry. It's a way to breathe new life into the emotions and ideas that I've poured onto the page.

My debut collection of digital art, "We Were Gods Before We Were Women," takes its title from a line in a poem I wrote for my best friend. This phrase has become a mantra, reminding me of the power and divinity that lies within myself. What makes this collection even more personal is that each artwork is named after a woman who has made a profound impact on my life. From family members to friends, mentors, and role models, these women have inspired me, challenged me, and shaped me into the person I am today.

"We Were Gods Before We Were Women" is more than just a collection of art – it's an exploration of identity, femininity, and the human condition. I invite you to join me on this journey, where words and pixels blend to create something entirely new. View  "We Were Gods Before We Were Women" in the photo gallery below
